Packaging: Quarterly Update Service

The Packaging Directive requires Member States to implement Packaging Regulations in order to prevent the formation of packaging waste and to reduce the impact of packaging waste on the environment. The Packaging Directive also requires Member State Packaging Regulations to develop packaging collection, recovery and reuse systems in order to attain the Packaging Directive recycling and recovery targets.

Further revisions to the Packaging Directive and implementing Member State Packaging Regulations were made in 2004 and 2005 and a review of the Packaging Directive made the European Commission in 2011.

thinkstep's Packaging Directive Annual Update Service allows companies to keep up-to-date with developments of the Packaging Directive and implementing Member State Packaging Regulations across Europe, including:

  • Alerts for the Member States who have amended Packaging Regulations and detailed assessments of how the developments in the amendment regulations will affect packaging producers, including packaging producer registration requirements and packaging producer compliance options;

  • Information on newly authorised producer compliance schemes in Member States, including joining fees, membership arrangements and reporting requirements and any opportunities for cost-savings to be made over existing compliance arrangements.
