Member state requirements

Our consultancy services cut through the confusion and help you to meet all your compliance obligations under WEEE, Batteries and Packaging Regulations in EU Member States.

WEEE Regulations in EU Member States

Manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment are required to register as the 'WEEE producer' in every Member State where they sell products in order to comply with the WEEE regulations. In many member states, the producer must display a 'WEEE Registration Number' on invoice documentation. Failure to register can prevent products being sold in some member states.

The WEEE registration process and deadlines are different in every member state. If your company is required to register as a WEEE producer in a member state, you will also be required to finance collection and recycling of waste equipment arising from sales of your products in that member state.

Batteries Regulations in EU Member States

A 'battery producer' is defined as the first person to put batteries on the market in an EU Member State, including batteries incorporated in appliances. Failure to register as a batteries producer can prevent these appliances being sold in some member states.

The Battery producer registration process and deadlines are different in every member state. If your company is required to register as a battery producer in a member state, you may also be required to finance the collection and recycling of waste batteries that you place on the member state market.

Packaging Regulations in EU Member State

The EU Packaging Directives do not stipulate how EU Member States are to achieve the recycling and recovery targets set out in the Directives. As a result, each Member State has implemented their own national programmes to meet the targets set by the Packaging Directives.
