Registration, collection and recycling obligations for batteries producers

Producers of portable batteries

Producers can join a collective scheme and transfer legal responsibility to the scheme. Individual compliance permitted although is a financially unattractive option.

Producers of industrial batteries

Producers can join a collective scheme and transfer legal responsibility to the scheme. Individual compliance is permitted although producers must also submit a waste plan to NOAMPOW.

Packaging requirements

Obligated parties must register and submit data based on the amount of packaging handled to EOEDSAP.

The deadline for meeting recycling targets in Greece is delayed until 31 December 2011 in accordance with the amendment to the revised Directive, 2005/20/EC

EOEDSAP operates under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works, but its Board of Directors includes representatives of the private sector, the Organization of Local Authorities (OLA), and environmental and consumer organizations as well as of central government.

Thresholds

The Packaging Regulations in Greece apply to all businesses which handle packaging. There are no thresholds for companies who only handle small quantities of packaging.
