Product Compliance Management Services

Businesses who place products on the market in Europe must take increasing responsibility for these products once they have reached end-of-life. EU legislation, including the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), Packaging and Packaging Waste and Batteries Directives places responsibility on producers to register their businesses with the regulatory authorities in EU Member States and to be partly or wholly responsible for costs for collection and recycling or recovery at end-of-life.

Many of the requirements of these Directives are implemented differently in each of the 27 EU Member States. A business selling its products across Europe will therefore need to invest considerable time and effort to understand their potential legal exposure to 27 EU Member State national regulations and to put in place practical measures for compliance.

In addition, the new EU REACH Regulation introduces requirements on all suppliers in a product supply chain (components, sub-assemblies, finished equipment etc) to provide declarations for substances of very high concern and to comply with substance restrictions from June 2009. The REACH Regulation puts further pressure on businesses who must already manage substance declarations from their supply chains to meet legal obligations for RoHS, Batteries and Packaging compliance.

ENVIRON’s Product Compliance Management Services provide a range of individually costed solutions to manage compliance with WEEE, Packaging, Batteries, REACH and RoHS legislation, including:

  • A compliance assessment of company products against the WEEE and RoHS Directives;
  • A web-based solution to manage WEEE producer registration, collection, recycling and reporting for B2B products across Europe;
  • A compliance assessment of legal exposure to the Batteries Directive and Packaging Directive for sales of your equipment in Europe, including a detailed Compliance Action Plan and practical measures to help you meet your obligations against these Directives in EU Member States;
  • Joining and maintaining membership to compliance schemes for WEEE (including schemes for business-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) products), batteries and packaging, plus managing registration requirements and reporting obligations to these schemes;
